wander wander
wandering
meandering
the urge to roam
to dance
to fly
to be
the search for free
the need to see
to go
to find
to search
to do
my thirsts so easily quenched
so close to home
and yours so grand
so elegant
so marvelous
climbing mountain tops
and elephants
and tiger hunts
and dancing bears
and far off stars
and trips to mars
and all of it
so wild
so vast
so free
as you go wander
wander
wandering
and then the best
part of all
when satisfied
complete
and happy now
you wander
slowly
home
to me.

from a top a hill on a tiny farm to tenting at a buddhist retreat

From a tiny bed next to a tiny old woman in a tiny old house on a tiny old farm...to a majestic garden camping retreat in a buddhist sanctuary. Taken in both times by the most loveliest of people. On the farm there were 8 kids, 3 dogs and any number of chickens and sheep. There was an old wooden stove and a family who spoke not word of english. There were bowls of pasta and chicken skins for dinner. There was no heat or no bathrooms, but there was the bed of the family, given to us for a warm place to sleep. In the buddhist retreat there were birds chirping, an endless garden of trees and flowers, and even a hot shower.
butterly butterfly take me away, to a fantastical place high upon the hills

Well it all started with a quest. Not a totally unusual quest but certainly a fantastical one. It was the quest to find the butterflies. We were in search of the sea of monarch butterflies, rumoured to be living in the trees about an hour and a half up into the hills from Ocampo. We were coming from Ocampo and going to lake Patzcuaro. We traveled far and wide right from downtown mexico city, mostly by foot and by bus, and ended up high in the mountains of El Rosario, in a tiny bed next to a tiny old woman in a tiny old house on a tiny old farm. I`m not sure how or why we ended up there but that`s just what happened. And the next thing we new it was morning time and we were in a forest of...butterflies!! Not hundreds, not thousands, but 150 million butterflies! They were everywhere! In the trees, on the ground, all through the air, in our hairs... It was out of our wildest dreams!
